Caprock Rifle Club is proud to bring NRL HUNTER ONE to West Texas! This will be a one day, hunting style match with targets from 100 to 1200 yards, and is a great way to prepare yourself for the upcoming seasons while also tracking your scores against other shooters nationwide. The match will consist of 9 or 10 4-minute stages. Stages will consist of 4 target engagements. An engagement is defined as one target or position depending on the layout of the stage. Stage layouts will fall into three basic designs: 1 position with 4 targets, 2 positions with 2 targets, or 4 positions with 1 target. Maximum round count per stage is 8 rounds. The match follows all NRL Hunter One rules and format, which can be found here: NRL HUNTER ONE Info
What do you need to bring? Your rifle and ammunition of course, as well as a good set of binoculars for finding the targets and a rangefinder for gathering target distances. You will need to range the targets on the clock during the stage, but the RO will be able to show you the target locations prior to beginning. Shooting positions will be realistic to scenarios you’d face while hunting. It is highly recommended that you have a good zero confirmed on your rifle and verified ballistic data for your rifle, just like you would if you were about to chase a 200″ mule deer! The course of fire is laid out over natural rolling prairie terrain, and the total hike will be just under 2 miles round trip. Plan to carry a day pack with water and a snack or two. Lunch will be provided on site.
