Range Rules
- Caprock Rifle Club & Range is a “cold range”. All firearms are to be kept in a safe and empty condition until on the firing line. When on the firing line, empty chamber indicators are to be used when firearms are not in active use. All firearms must be unloaded when transitioning from ground level to the elevated firing area.
- Everyone is a safety officer. If you observe an unsafe condition either downrange or on the firing line, call “CEASE FIRE” immediately! Make the line safe until the situation can be resolved and safe operations can resume.
- Range hours: 7:00AM to 8:00PM Tuesday-Saturday, and 1:00PM-8:00PM Sunday. No shooting allowed after sunset, regardless of time in relation to closing.
- All Federal, state, and local firearm laws must be obeyed.

- Prior to going down range for target inspection or maintenance, the range must be made to cease fire and all weapons on line made clear and safe. This requires visual and verbal confirmation that all firearms are clear and other members are off the firing line. No handling of firearms or ammunition while members are down range. Once the line is made safe, the down range indicator system must be turned on prior to entering the impact area.
